Baranec (2184m)
Western Tatras · Žiarska valley
One loop, three views of the Western Tatras: from the valley, from the saddle and from the summit.
Baranec is a prominent summit and a proper mountain day, showing the Western Tatras in all their beauty.
The journey begins in the forest and gradually gains elevation. With every step, the trees become fewer, the open space grows, and the surrounding valleys and peaks begin to appear.
The ascent to Baranec is a proper one. Expect a long climb, rocky terrain and an increasingly open ridge. At the summit, the landscape opens into wide space, allowing you to experience the Western Tatras from a completely different perspective.
Baranec is beautiful precisely because it gives you nothing for free. There is elevation, effort, ridge and silence. It has a different character in summer than in winter, but in both seasons it remains a true mountain day.
A journey for those who want to find some quiet in their minds.
Step by step, without shortcuts.
