A scenic crossing between two of the most beautiful valleys of the High Tatras, combining waterfalls, mountain huts, rocky alpine terrain and a true via ferrata experience.
Priečne saddle is one of the most distinctive mountain crossings in the High Tatras. The route connects Small cold valley with Great cold valley, moving from forest and rocky terraces into higher alpine terrain.
As the valley opens, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, with steep peaks, mountain lakes and wide views surrounding the route. The ascent to Priečne Saddle brings a more technical character, with exposed rocky sections, chains and a secured via ferrata section.
Crossing the saddle feels like moving between two different sides of the mountains. On the other side, Great Cold valley opens into a vast alpine landscape, with Zbojnícka mountain hut and a chain of mountain lakes along the way.
A full mountain day for those who want more than a summit.
